LGR Alumni Spotlight
Alex Dearborn, Professional Recruiter for RWJ & Associates
Class of 2005
When Alex Dearborn was asked about the most valuable thing he learned from his Leadership Greater Rochester (LGR) program, he couldn't just name one. Dearborn, a 2005 LGR Graduate and current Chair for the program, credits LGR for both the lifelong friends he made from the class, as well as teaching him what it takes to be a good leader.
"I learned that good leaders know how to channel each person's talents into a direction that helps a goal to be accomplished," he says. "For our LGR class, it was being able to identify all of the resources we could tap into as individuals, and to capitalize on the networks we had outside of our class."
Dearborn, a professional recruiter at RWJ & Associates, along with his fellow LGR classmates, raised more than $100,000 for the completion of their class project. The LGR Class of 2005 partnered with Rochester Park and Recreation and the United Way to assist in the completion of a new entrance, bathrooms and new capital indoor playground equipment for Pipsqueaks, an indoor playground in Rochester.
In addition to the personal impact LGR has had on Dearborn, his employer has also reaped benefits. "My employer has been very supportive of my participation in the program, and some of the networking and resources I have been able to utilize from the experience has helped strengthen our company's ability to find talented people, and ultimately bring them to Rochester."
